Statement regarding removal of the graffiti

Campaign “Primarily Tolerance” started yesterday with removal of the graffiti containing inappropriate messages from buildings in the streets Kapetan Misina and Obilicev venac.

Begrade city Youth Office, Belgarde human rights center, Center for minority rights, Labris- organization for lesbian human rights, Association for promoting inclusion and City Sanitation service  supported this campaign organized by Initiative for social responsibility.

Removal of the graffiti containing inappropriate messages, call for lynch and discrimination is among other things that are planed to be realized during September within this campaign. Goal of the campaign is to draw attention of the public to individual cases of writing graffiti with hate speech, which in most cases remain unnoticed.

Hate speech is very powerful means of inciting lynch, brutal behavior as well, as other forms of anti civilized heritage. We want to show with this campaign that combating all kinds of prejudices and stereotypes that lead to hate speech is indeed needed and that it is only acceptable behavior. Therefore we have to fight against hate speech and other forms of that kind of behavior- it said in Initiative for social responsibility.
