Public announcement of the BelgradePride 2009 Organizing Committe

duga_zastavaOrganizing Committee of Belgrade Pride 2009 announces that Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) is excluded from that body, because of their irresponsible decision to announce publicly a preliminary date of the Belgrade Pride March.

Besides jeopardizing of the safety of the participants, with this above mentioned act, Gay Straight Alliance made a serious breach of the first article of the Memorandum of Collaboration singed by LGBT organizations on Belgrade Pride 2009 organization. With this act, GSA showed that its political ambitions and self-promotion of its president, Boris Milicevic, are more important than interests of the whole LGBT community.

Organizing Committee of Belgrade Pride 2009 announces that it will continue its activities to ensure all the necessary preconditions for organizing a dignified event in which the Serbian LGBT community and their friends and families will express their legitimate aspirations towards equality of all people regardless of their sexual orientation.

Within the scope of its further activities, the Organizing Committee of Belgrade Pride 2009 considers its top priority the close cooperation with all institutions, especially the police and other relevant state institutions and ministries, as well as media, other civil organizations and groups, which are all necessary and important to help create an adequate atmosphere to organize a Pride Parade.
